We must deal with the problem of out of control rising property taxes. Research shows that in 2023 Laramie County banked more money than they took in, in property taxes. I believe that property tax should be based on the acquisition value of the property. At the present time homeowners find it difficult, if not impossible, to afford necessary maintenance, knowing that it would add to their ever-growing property tax bill. For this reason, many homes and neighborhoods are deteriorating. In addition, many seniors are finding it difficult on fixed incomes to pay their ever rising property taxes. I believe that seniors and Veterans should be exempt from property taxes.
